Refracted Issue #1 - An Introduction

A weekly newsletter set to explore how design, technology and culture intertwine in our day to day lives.
An Introduction
Hey there stranger,
I’m thrilled you are here, partaking in this shared journey of discovery, reflection and refraction. I named this Newsletter “Refracted” based on the phenomenon in physics, which observes the change of direction of a wave passing from one medium to another.
Analogically, when a wave of information passes through the medium of my mind, it’s direction is being changed, ending up in this written form of text.
What I’ll try to achieve is to share my experience of how I explore, curate, interpret, formulate and share information on the topics of design, philosophy, art and human relationships, giving you my personal take on various topics.
Newsletter Overview
This newsletter is an experiment. Hopefully, my writings would end up as thought-provoking works, sparking discussions between you and I. The format of the newsletter will follow this structure:
Refracted On - A section where I “refract” on a specific topic, sharing my point of view in the hope that it might pique your interest and lead to a discussion
Enjoyed - A section in which I share discovered content that I appreciated and I found meaningful for you to enjoy
Thankful For - A final section where I remind us all of the importance of being grateful. I would list out things that I feel thankful for, mainly sourced from my diary logs from the corresponding week.
What to Expect
Next week, I’ll share the first part of a three-piece story to give my take on Productive Work Culture, Burnout and Productive Downtime. Thank you once again, and stay tuned!
Enjoyed
The music of peach tinted - in particular, their song The Unknown
John Steinbeck’s book - Travels with Charley
The Daily Manifest by Visualize Value
Thankful For
My gorgeous wife that’s been the backbone of our family
My caring mother that raised me with her unconditional love, trust and hope
My strong, soft-hearted grandmother that taught me how to live honourably
My dear sister, that taught me how to care for a younger one and that there’s no equivalent to the love between siblings
Happy Women’s Day! 💐
